This article has some tips to make any toddler birthday party as easy as possible to organize. Everything here is tried-and-tested advice that really works.

General Tips

Make it as easy or as hard as you want to. Never feel pressured into some over-the-top party if you don’t feel like it. It is easy to impress a toddler, and you are the one who creates the expectations that they will have about it.

1st birthday party celebrations don’t mean a thing to the child – so make it your celebration of the first amazing year with your little one. Don’t feel obliged to have a party at all – a trip to the zoo might be more fun

2nd birthday parties are not likely to mean much to the child either – you can definitely still dispense with the party altogether. Remember that tantrums and so forth are at a peak at this age. If you do invite other children, go for less rather than more. 2-year-olds are quite happy without any organized games.

By their 3rd birthday, toddlers have more idea what is going on and will probably have been to a couple of parties. Some organized games are appropriate, but make sure that the kids have free play time as well – a 3-year-old cannot cope with 2 hours of games.

Hiring a village hall or community center is a cheap solution to possible behavior (and mess) problems. Boisterous toddlers behave far better in a more spacious venue, far away from your furniture and carpets!

Birthday Party Games

Birthday Party Games should be non-competitive – children this young cannot cope with them. You can still play musical statues and other similar games, but alter them so the children are never out. Instead, everyone has a go each time for the fun of it.

Spread games out. A good idea is to have free play for a while at the start, then one or two group games, then free play, followed by a couple more activities. This is easier for both you and the children to cope with.

Get the guests to bring things to play with. If you have the space, ask people to bring ride-on toys. They are a great way to use up all that excited energy, and there will be less arguments over who goes on what.

Birthday Party Food

Simple finger food is the order of the day – forget jelly and ice cream. Sandwiches, pizza, crackers, breadsticks and cupcakes are easy to prepare and popular. It’s worth asking on the invites whether any of the children have vegetarian or other special restrictions. Small portions are all that your highly excitable party animals will require!

Prepare and put onto individual plates each toddler’s party meal before the party. This is one of the most important toddler birthday party tips. - you will have more than enough to do leading the games. In fact, delegate the food preparation to someone else! Don’t serve too much either.

Is your child’s birthday party around the corner and you need to think of party ideas that are fun, affordable and easy to organize and you’re not sure where to start. Fret not help is here and to get the ball rolling I have put together some great tips and fantastic ideas to get you started.

The theme we will focus on is a fun ‘Arts and Crafts’ birthday party. Arts and Crafts birthday parties are very popular and are a fun way to celebrate a birthday and save the pennies at the same time. They can be as artistic as you want them to be, talk to your child about ideas and themes, search the internet and speak with other mums. Arts and Crafts party are a great party idea for both boys and girls and are suitable for most age groups. Add some fun energetic games and everyone is happy and if you can rope in some help from other adults (family, friends or other parents) even better.

First, organize a theme with your child, talk to them and ask them if they would like anything in particular – this is a good way of involving them in the organization. Once a party theme has been decided, it is time to get on with organizing the actual birthday party.

Workout your budget and make a list of the items you will require for the birthday party itself and the activities you are planning. You can make it more cost effective by including the things the children create as part of their party bags. Add a few small extra party bag fillers such as a funky pencil or a cute bookmark and you have a fun personalized party bag to hand out at the end.

Work out how long you want to spend on the arts and crafts activities and break these up with having some traditional party games too, such as pass the parcel and musical statues.

If there is lots of gluing, sticking, painting etc arrange for these activities to take place at the beginning of the birthday party – giving them plenty of time to dry for taking home at the end.

If you are going to make something new and you want to get it right and be the expert on the day – it may be worth doing a practice run arts and crafts session with your child, saves the red face later!

Most of all get your creative juices flowing – you will probably surprise yourself and together with your little one, you will make it a day to remember.

Typically, by the time a little kid starts preschool they begin to see that there’s a lot of fun stuff going on in the world and naturally part of that fun includes birthday parties. Once a child makes new little friends at school, they will begin to get invited to lots of birthday parties. Of course they will want to have their own birthday party too. If this idea sends you into a bit of a panic attack there’s no need to stress out because having a preschooler’s birthday party does not need to be a huge event.

Step one in planning a birthday party for preschool age kid is to simply ask them what kind of birthday party they would like. Ask them what theme they might enjoy such as their favorite cartoon or movie character. There are lots of popular characters available in just about any kind of party supplies you can imagine, so finding accessories will probably not be difficult.

The next step is deciding on the party location. Most people have preschool age birthday parties at their homes as that is the easiest option. However, keep in mind that kids this age are messy little boogers and can quickly turn your happy home into a disaster area. If you have a large enough area within your house, or are having an outdoor party, then mess may not be as big an issue. However, you may consider holding the party at a restaurant or play center where the kids can make a mess and you will not have to be responsible for the clean up.

A very important part of any preschooler’s birthday party is having adequate numbers of adults ready to lend a hand during the big event. Children this age need a lot of assistance with things like food, games and bathroom trips. Having enough grown ups around to supervise will take away quite a lot of the stress that will definitely occur with kids in this age group.

If you are planning to send the party invitations to preschool with your child, be sure there is an invitation for each child in the class. Most teachers will frown on leaving any child out as this is considered rude and unkind. No little child wants to feel left out, so do not be the parent who causes this unhappiness in preschool. Your child will probably suffer in the long run by being left out themselves later on.

Having lots of fun activities and games is essential. Although you absolutely do not want to overwhelm the kids with too many things going on at once, you can plan a few simple yet fun games such as pin the tail on the donkey or duck duck goose where everyone can have fun at the same time. If your child’s chosen theme has obvious game ideas, then use those in the game planning.

Planning a birthday party for a preschool age child does not need to cause you to stress out or spend a ton of cash. Be sure to organize well and enough in advance to get everything done and you can enjoy the party as much as your preschooler certainly will.

Little kids, especially toddlers can be a challenge to keep entertained, and birthday parties can be the biggest challenge of all. Parents should not despair however, because there are a few time tested fun toddler birthday party games that are sure to make toddlers happy.

Having a good time is important, but keep in mind that little children should not be forced to compete or become would-be bullies with other children in order to win. Keep the party games light and simple with everyone enjoying themselves. Here are some toddler friendly party game ideas that require little setup or materials but provide lots of fun.

Pin the Tail On…

Practically anyone who has been to a child’s birthday party at some time in the last fifty years has played ‘pin the tail on the donkey’, however there is no reason to stick with the donkey theme. There are premade donkey game packages available in stores and party planning retail online stores. Use whatever the particular theme is and make your own game: buy a large poster board and draw one of the characters on it and color in with markers. One idea uses a red poster board cut into a large Elmo head and then the kids ‘Pin the Nose on Elmo’ with orange construction paper noses.

Hot Potato

Little kids love to play ‘Hot Potato’ and a toddler birthday party is a great time to play this fun game. It is not necessary to only use a potato of course. You can use a stuffed toy that goes along with the party theme, such as ‘Hot Elmo’ in place of the potato or ‘Hot Train’ with Thomas the Tank Engine. Arrange the kids in a circle on the floor and with fun toddler music playing, have the kiddos pass the ‘potato’ around until the music stops.

Musical Pillows

An old party game that everyone is probably familiar with is ‘Musical Chairs,’ and toddlers can enjoy it as well. You can use child size chairs of course, but most families do not have enough of these size chairs in their home to accommodate a party, so why not use pillows instead? The concept is exactly the same, but without the chairs. Play music while the toddlers walk around the pillows, have one fewer than the number of children playing, and when the music stops the kids have to sit on a pillow. The child without a pillow to sit on is out and then one pillow is removed. Play this until only one child and pillow are left.

It is possible to play fun toddler birthday party games and they certainly do not have to be complicated. Make certain that there is plenty of adult supervision so that all of the little ones are well cared for during the party. Keep the games short and sweet and have fun!

Get ready for the funnest part of parenting a toddler – planning the birthday party! The first thing you need to do is pat yourself on the back – you’ve survived two whole years! Hold off on renting the clown, live animals and circus tent for a few more years. Two years olds tend to get overwhelmed very quickly. Having a house full of guests running around the room with a screaming birthday child is no fun at all. Don’t fear – there are plenty of ways to throw an age appropriate birthday party for a two year old.

Here are some tips for a smooth, tantrum free party.

It’s all in the scheduling. Schedule the party after nap time when your toddler will be most sociable. Leave some time to give her something to eat.

Keep it small. It sounds fun to create a huge bash, but at this age they can’t handle too many guests. The rule of thumb is to invite the amount of children equal to their age (this year being two kids). Know your child. if you think he can handle a few more – go for it.

Keep the family involved. Friends come and go, but a couple of years down the road they will love to know that Grandma came to all their birthdays.

If they go to daycare and you aren’t inviting all his friends, ask his teacher if you can bring in cupcakes after the big day for a mini party. Send the camera and a birthday hat!

Keep it manageable for you. If you are going to be grilling the whole time you wont have time to make sure the activities are going over well and that the birthday girl is enjoying it.

Keep the activities light. Kids this age don’t do well with structured activities. Think sidewalk chalk, outdoor riding toys or a roll of butcher paper to color on. You can get them party blowers, balls to kick around and party hats.

Make it a water party! For your summer birthday break out the kiddy pool and water guns. Be sure to note on the invite that guests should wear bathing suits.

To make your party the talk of the two-year-old town, get a bubble machine to constantly blow bubbles. Toddlers love chasing and popping bubbles.

Keep the party short. Know your two year old’s limits.

If you are really brave, give each kid their own cupcake and let them decorate it. Prepare for a real mess!

Dress your birthday girl to kill. Get her an adorable tutu and tiara. Just being dressed up so fancy will put her into the party mood.

For your little man get him an adorable personalized birthday t-shirt and hat or you can go for the formal look with a snappy shortall and white shirt.

Enjoy your birthday bash and take millions of pictures! Don’t forget the thank you cards – your child can color the top half of the card and you can write the message on bottom.

Let’s face it. Kids have a lot of energy. For the next 18 years of your life (at least) you are going to have to be gung-ho parent all the way. Always giving your child attention when she wants to play or when she wants to hide from you at the grocery store. Have you ever considered tiring him out with Gymnastics?

Gymnastics can benefit everyone. No matter the level of skill a child has it can be the highlight of a child’s day. It gives your child to run around and interact with other children for a good portion of her day. It will teach her new motor skills and give her great exercise. This means that you will be able to get a few minutes of peace and quiet while she’s sleeping like a rock in the back seat on the way home.

Gymnastics aren’t only for toddlers. They are for all ages. You can start your child in a program from age three and up. You may just be helping your child find a talent she is great at while giving yourself a little bit of a relief. Once a child advances out of kids gymnastics there are other opportunities for them. It can help them build up body strength to be the head cheerleader in their high school or help them be on their way to the Olympics. You never know. It starts with starting a simple program.

Gymnastics offer different programs that include balance beam, rings, tumbling, horse, parallel bars and some even include dance. For younger children it is most popular to do tumbling. Here they will learn to stretch, run, do summer salts and even sometimes advance to cartwheels. As they get older they will develop the ability to do a back walk-over, back flip, cartwheel, and many other jumps and twists in the air. Everything is monitored and done on the mats. Plus your child will be feeling great in her fun outfits!

There are recitals and competitions that kids gymnastic schools provide. They will be able to give you updates on your child’s improvement and schedule changes regularly and even develop a friendly relationship with you and the other parents. You might even make a couple friends yourself!

Having your child involved in an active sport from a young age is always a good idea. Giving your child the opportunity to experience happy healthy fun is the best gift that you can give to her. And of course keeping a child healthy and out of trouble is what every parent wants for them. Right?

When kids walk into their first day of gymnastics you never know what they may wear. I have seen children come into the gym for class wearing things that not only make you laugh inside, but attire that makes it impossible for them to participate.

When it comes to gymnastics here are some things you shouldn’t wear to class. Do not wear jeans. You can’t move well in jeans, plus they have buttons and zippers that will scratch and chip the gymnastics equipment. Loose baggy shirts are also a no no. They can be dangerous because the gymnast could get caught up in the loose tee-shirt while tumbling. It is also very dangerous for the coach if they are spotting gymnasts with loose clothing. My co-worker spotted a gymnast on a back handspring and her finger got twisted in the gymnast’s baggy tee shirt which broke her finger in three places. Don’t wear socks, they make you slip. All jewelry (except stud earrings) should not be worn. Believe me; getting a hoop earring caught and ripped out is not fun! If you are allowed to wear shorts at your gym make sure they are fitted and PLEASE wear undies under them!

Way too many times my teenaged gymnast forgot to (or just chose not to) wear undies, and that is not a pretty sight. Another thing young children seem to wear are tights and skirts. These both are prohibited. It is very hard for a coach to spot a gymnast who is wearing a skirt or tights; this makes it is very slippery and it gets in the way of both, the gymnast and coach. Do not leave your hair down. Not only will your hair dangle in your face and get annoying but it can also be dangerous. If your hair is down it can get yanked out by your own hands while tumbling. Or even worse I have heard of girls getting their hair stuck in the trampoline springs, ouch!! Make sure you use only a ponytail holder in your hair. If you wear clips they will break and poke you when you do skills such as backward rolls, handstand forward rolls or even dive rolls.

If you follow these few simple attire rules you will be a much safer gymnast!

Recreational gymnastics is designed for kids that want to learn basic gymnastics skills, stay fit, build strength and flexibility but don’t want to commit to long hours in the gym or partake in competitions.

Children of any age and skill level can participate in a recreational gymnastics program. Most rec gymnastics programs are built around USAG recommendations and standards. USAG require each gymnastics coach and business owner to become members and go through a safety training course and test. This is very important and helps decrease the chance of injury to your child.

Recreational gymnastics programs are usually categorizes by both, age and skill level. Mommy and me class, preschool and kindergarten are all designed for specific ages. Mommy and me class is for children usually 18 months to 3 years old, preschool class is for 3 to 5 year olds and kindergarten class is designed for 5 and 6 year olds. All the rest of the rec gymnastics classes are based on gymnastics skills. The classes are arranged as followed: beginner, advance beginner, intermediate, level 1, level 2… so on and so forth. A gymnast must master all the skills in their gymnastics level before they get to move up to the next level.

Recreational gymnasts get to use the floor exercise, balance beam, uneven bars, vault, pit, and trampoline. They also get to use many types of mats that aide in the learning of specific gymnastics skills. There is some equipment in a gymnastics academy that rec gymnast do not get to us. They usually don’t get use high bar, strap bar, harnesses, etc.

Most rec gymnasts take gymnastics classes 1 to 2 times a week and each class is usually about an hour long. Every rec class starts with a warm up and usually ends with conditioning.

For many children, gymnastics is one of the first classes outside of school that they take. Learning to tumble, flip, and somersault are all fun activities. For some children they continue on through the years with gymnastics lessons. If your child if one them, then a Gymnastics Birthday Party is probably perfect for them.

The perfect party location for this party is at a gymnastics studio. If your child is already a member of one, ask them if they have party packages. Otherwise call around to the local gyms to find out if they rent their space out for birthday parties. This party package may involve the use of a room, as well as an instructor to teach the kids some basic tumbling and balance beam activities. The best part is all of the set-up and clean up will probably be taken care of for you.

If a gymnastics studio is not available then hosting the party in your home is a great alternative. Get creative in what you can do with the space to make it into a gym. Use a long board to make a balance beam. Play mats can become a place to practice somersaults on. Always keep safety on the mind and have plenty of adult spotters around.

Have an awards ceremony after the gymnastic events. Give each child a medal with the national anthem playing. Don’t forget to have the flag flying. Ribbons and trophies are good options as well. Decorate the party space in red, white and blue (or your national colors).

Use the various events to help plan your menu. The gymnasts will be hungry after all that moving around. You can serve them uneven bar breadsticks, pommel horse hot dogs, and gold medal cookies.

Many people think gymnastics is only for adults because it is such a challenging sport. With all the difficult movements and extensive maneuvers, most parents would think their kids would find it hard to perform these movements. Some would even think they are putting their own kids in danger. To give you a clear picture, you need to understand more about the sport to see whether kids’ gymnastics is safe or not.

What is gymnastics?
It is a sport involving a variety of exercises and body stretches. These activities require strength, flexibility, balance, agility, and coordination. The most common courses for women’s gymnastics are floor exercise, vault, uneven bars, and balanced beam. While for men, the events are usually still rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, and high bars.

Gymnastics originated from exercises done by the ancient Greeks such as mounting and dismounting a horse and several circus performance skills. Other sports include acrobatic and aerobic sports, trampolining, and rhythmic gymnastics.

The sport is usually open for all ages including children as young as one year old. There are also tournaments for kids’ gymnastics. Before they can join the competition, kids should first present certificates from both their trainers and parents.

Why enroll my child in kids’ gymnastics?
The toddler period is one of the most crucial developmental stages of a child. This is when their bodies develop rapidly and their minds absorb everything like a sponge. In this stage, it is important to let them develop their physical and mental abilities by enrolling them in different classes. Gymnastics for toddlers, for instance, is a perfect choice for your kids.

What are the benefits they can get from kids’ gymnastics?

1. Confidence and determination
To excel in this sport, they need to practice regularly. They need to set their goals and work hard to become successful. A focused and determined gymnast will master even the most challenging moves. As your child moves to the next level, they will feel more confident about themselves.

2. Physical and mental improvement
Gymnastics can also help your child develop his or her body awareness. It can enhance their body coordination and help them understand the different functions of their bodies. As a result, they can have more advantage in choosing other sports or physical activities in the future.

3. Social benefits
Letting your children participate in this sport will also help them manage stress and learn sportsmanship at an early age. It could also provide them the skills to take on the physical and emotional challenges they need to face. Children who participate in gymnastics also have the chance to learn and recognize social skills like listening, respecting others, taking turns, and moral awareness.

As they will be in a hands-on class, they will meet other children their age and interact with them. This will help them improve their communication skills as they engage themselves with more group activities.

Gymnastics is a challenging sport. It also poses many risks. As a parent, you need to find the best schools for your children. There are several schools offering gymnastic for toddlers with great facilities and experienced trainers. There is nothing to worry about as long as you do your homework. Gymnastics can be more beneficial than most people would think.
